The Arts Bus is thrilled to roll-out Randolph's PEACE by Piece Project called WHISPER IN THE WIND, designed by local artist & art educator, Susannah Gravel. This incredible outdoor art installation will feature hundreds of colorful flags fluttering the words & images of Randolph villagers, from youngsters to elders, with stories of hope, love and empathy during uncertain times in 2020.
๐ณ๏ธโ๐How to Particiipate:
The week of October 12th, "Piece Kits" containing a flag, permanent marker & instructions will be distributed throughout Randolph's public & home schools, elder care facilities, Kimball Public Library & select locations including Floyd's General Store & Middle Branch Market & Deli. Randolph residents will have until October 20th to write/draw on their flags and drop them off at set locations. The art installation below Whale Dance is planned to be open for public viewing on October 25th.
โฎ๏ธThe Arts Bus PEACE by Piece Project is a township-based community collage of shared expressions of peace. The concept was designed by The Arts Bus in early 2020 to facilitate & foster community connections through ART even while physically distanced by the COVID-19 pandemic, suffering economic pain & confronting civil unrest. Through the project, The Arts Bus is commissioning local artists in 8-10 towns to design a community collage that evokes peace in pieces and in the whole, to result in a permanent or semi-permanent installation in a public space(s). The art is meant to reflect and be influenced by the events of 2020, allowing for subjective, authentic self-expression by all participants.
The PEACE by Piece Project funding was "spark'd" by The Vermont Community Foundation's SPARK! Connecting Community Grant program and is otherwise being supported by local contributions and long-term grantors, sponsors, township & art education enthusiasts. Vermont Glove has generously provided the flags, Ayers Brook Goat Dairy is allowing the use of the land, and Randolph Sunrise Rotary Club provided kit-stuffing support!
